Zsu Dever

There’s a new name you’ll want to know in the world of vegan cooking. She’s Zsu Dever, a talented cook and recipe developer, whose Everyday Vegan Eats: Family Favorites from My Kitchen to Yours (May 2014) is a proud addition to the Vegan Heritage Press list.

Zsu worked in her parents’ restaurants for years.  She cooked professionally and did catering, and that experience helped a lot when she converted her family to a plant-based diet 14 years ago. She worked hard on the science behind great taste to develop some of the best vegan recipes you’ll ever taste.

“Going vegan is great,” she explains, “but when the new food is so different from the old meat- and dairy-centered meals, they feel there’s something missing from the table. I want to fill that void for the new vegan, because some families have trouble letting go of those old comforting meals. This is why I wrote the book.”

Zsu hails from a long line of culinary professionals and restaurateurs, and is the publisher of the blog Zsu’s Vegan Pantry.  She is passionate about teaching new vegans and vegetarians how to succeed with their newly chosen diet and become lifelong vegans, and sharing the recipes that keeps her family happy.

“When we first went vegan, my very carnivorous husband from Texas told me there would be no problem with the new diet as long as I made it taste good,” she added. “The most successful vegan families are those that make vegan food satisfying for the entire family. This cookbook is full of the recipes that have kept my family happy, and I am sure will make other families happy, too.”

Everyone who has tasted Zsu’s stunning, rich-tasting recipes want more.  She is a homeschooling mother of three teenagers and resides in San Diego, CA.
